For those who are interested in technique, this illustrates fountain pen & ink, ink brush ( #2 WN Cotman III), Noodler's Ink sketch technique in a Moleskine water color sketchbook. I always wear cargo pants or shorts with ample pockets so that all materisls for sketching are always available.

  1. I really like it, Put. It reminds me of some of the lithographs of a French Vietnamese expatriot's (Le Ba Dang) work we have in our living room.

Interestingly he first studied in Toulouse:

Le Ba Dang was born in Vietnam in 1922. He moved to France in 1940 to pursue an art career at Ecole de Beaus Arts de Toulouse. While studying there he was awarded prizes for painting, drawing, and sculpture and won his first commission.

By 1950 the Paris art community had recognized Le Ba Dang's work, appreciating the blend of European and Far Eastern culture and philosophies reflected in it. The director of the Far Eastern Department at UNESCO commissioned Le Ba Dang to illustrate a book of poetry, published by Editions Euros. Le Ba Dang was first represented in the United States, in 1966, with an exhibition of his paintings at the Cincinnati Art Museum. In describing Le Ba Dang's art today critics remark that it incorporates everyday subjects into dream-like expressions of thought. Le Ba Dang, an accomplished printmaker, favors the techniques of etching, lithograph, and serigraph.
